Underwater Soft Robots Inspired by Falling Leaves

Robotic Gizmos

Here are soft underwater robots inspired by falling leaves. These robotic sheets flutter under water. They were designed by NSU researchers. They can actively change their density distribution through a soft muscle-like skin. The skin changes its volume with electronic heaters. Their actively controlled flutter enables these leaves to swim in a life-lie manner.

These types of robots can be used for oil skimming/cleanup environmental research and other comparable projects.
