Flying drones around humans without safety features can be quite dangerous. A team of engineers at the University of Colorado Boulder has developed a robot can makes flying drones safer. The PufferBot has a plastic shield that expands in size to form a robotic airbag to prevent dangerous collisions.
This robot has an airbag made of plastic hoops that are fastened to its top and can inflate from 20 to 33 inches in diameter. When danger is close, PufferBot extends its hoops over its 4 spinning rotors.
