NVIDIA has partnered with Hackster to host the AI-at-the-Edge Challenge. The contest invites makers, robotics developers, and embedded technology enthusiasts to use the NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit to create an AI solution for a chance to win from $100K in prizes.
Deadline to submit an entry using the NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit is January 31, 2020. Entries in the NVIDIA AI-at-the-Edge Challenge must fall into one of three categories:
- 1. Autonomous machines and robots
- 2. Intelligent Video Analytics & Smart Cities
- 3. Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT)
Here is what constitutes an autonomous machine and robot entry for the NVIDA AI-at-the-Edge Challenge: “AI enables autonomous machines to perceive, navigate, and manipulate the world around them in applications like delivery, maintenance, and language learning. Use your NVIDIA Jetson Nano to develop and deploy an AI-powered robot, drone, or other autonomous machine.
“The machine must be able to gain information about its environment, work for an extended period without human intervention, move either all or part of itself through its operating environment, and avoid situations that are harmful to people, property, and itself.
“The NVIDIA Isaac platform is designed to help you accelerate robot development, simulation, and deployment. Download the Isaac SDK for a comprehensive set of robotics algorithm and software tools. Leverage Isaac SIM to train and test your robot using highly realistic virtual simulation environments.”
Entries in the NVIDIA AI-at-the-Edge Challenge will be judged on the following criteria:
Project Documentation (30 points): Show how you created your project, including images, screenshots, and/or a video demonstration of your solution working as intended.
Complete BOM (10 points): Detail the hardware, software and/or tools used.
Schematics (10 points): Draw your circuit diagrams using software like Fritzing.org and/or take detailed photographs.
Code & Contribution (20 points): Include working code with helpful comments.
Creativity (30 points): Your idea doesn’t have to be original, but it should be creative.
NVIDIA is giving away $100,000 in prizes. For example, the first-place winner in the “Autonomous Machines and Robots” category will win a trip to NVIDIA GTC 2020, a NVIDIA Titan RTX, NVIDIA Jetson Xavier, and $1,000 in Public Cloud Compute Credits. The second-place winner receives a NVIDIA Titan RTX, NVIDIA Jetson Xavier, Acer Predator Helios 300 Laptop, and $500 in Public Cloud Compute Credits. At press time, there were nearly 700 participants already registered for the NVIDIA AI-at-the-Edge Challenge.
NVIDIA recently expanded their Jetson family, introducing the Jetson Xavier NX which brings supercomputer performance to the edge on a compact form factor that’s smaller than a credit card. Supporting all major AI frameworks, this system-on-module (SoM) delivers up to 21 TOPS and consumes as little as 10 watts of power for running parallel multiple neural networks.
