The Robot Report

Dr. Susanne Bieller, who on May 1, 2019 takes over the role of General Secretary of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), will be speaking at the Robotics Summit & Expo 2019. The Robotics Summit, taking place June 5-6 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, is produced by The Robot Report and parent company WTWH Media.

The Robotics Summit & Expo will feature 60-plus exhibitors, 60-plus speakers, AWS RoboMaker Immersion Day, the Future of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering Workshop, the MassRobotics Robotics Engineering Career Fair, networking receptions and more fun surprises. Full conference passes are $595 while expo-only passes are just $50. Academic discounts are available and academic full conference rates are $295.

Bieller has been with the IFR since April 2019. She is an experienced international association professional with extensive contacts and experience in robotics. Bieller takes over for Gudrun Litzenberger, who has been General Secretary of the IFR since 2008 and last year won the Engelberger Robotics Award, becoming at the time just the third women to do so.

Bieller will be on the panel session “Robotics Clusters as Innovation and Business Engines” where some of the world’s leading robotics clusters will describe their local clusters, as well as how they create a self-reinforcing, beneficial web of robotics innovation and promotion, whose total impact greatly exceeds the sum of its individual parts. Bieller will share insights about European robotics, world robotics market figures and more.

She has in-depth knowledge of current advocacy topics in robotics concerning ethical, legal, societal, economic aspects of robotics and AI, and closely-knit personal contacts into the European robotics sector. She has initiated and organized the European Robotics Summit and developed the service robotics exhibition portfolio at Automatica in Munich.

Bieller will be joined on the panel by Fady Saad, Co-Founder and Partnerships Director of MassRobotics, Andra Keay, Managing Director, Silicon Valley Robotics, and representatives from Denmark and Korea.

After receiving her doctorate in Chemistry in 2006, Bieller worked as PR Manager at the European Commission in Brussels for one year. In 2007, she joined the VDMA’s Flat Panel Display Forum (DFF) initially as its Project Manager and from 2008 as its Managing Director. Since 2014 she has been in charge of EUnited Robotics, the European robotics industry association.
