From May 20 – 24, 2019 you could spot Clearpath’s yellow and black robots cruising around the Palais des Congrès de Montréal. Our Engineering, Sales, and Human Resources teams were represented in full colours at Booth #606 of the International Conference on Robotics and Automation. This conference is the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society’s biggest event of the year which serves as an international stage to present and discuss the work of robotics and automation researchers. We are extremely proud to have been Silver Sponsors for an event like that. And getting the chance to talk to you was our favorite part. We had a great time speaking with many customers, partners, and new faces!
Our very own CTO and co-founder of Clearpath Robotics and OTTO Motors, Ryan Gariepy, also made a special appearance with his keynote speech about running a robotics startup titled “Move Fast And (Don’t) Break Things: Commercializing Robotics At The Speed Of Venture Capital”.
Clearpath At Full Force
On display at our double booth, we had a fleet of our robots: Husky, Jackal, Boxer, and Heron. In addition, our Warthog was on display in the lobby at the entrance to the exhibit. Besides bringing along our own technology, we also wanted to highlight the partners and vendors whose components are available through our store.
The following is a list of products we had on display:
- Velodyne LiDAR
- Ouster LiDAR
- RightHand Robotics Gripper
- OnRobot Gripper
- Robotiq Gripper
- QbRobotics Hand Shaped Gripper
- Leddartech LiDAR
- Kaarta Mapping System
- Schunk Gripper
Finding Our Way Around
Our robots also had the chance to play a very special role at ICRA 2019. As an alternative to ringing a chime to signal the end of breaks, our Boxer robot circled around the conference with a Franka Emika arm, running our Autonomy Research Kit (ARK) to sound off.
See the chiming in action here:
Finally, we also go to show off our robots in action to a crowd of over 30 people, as we hosted our first ever outdoor robot demo with our Husky UGV, demonstrating our outdoor navigation software suite (Visual Teach & Repeat, GPS Waypoint Navigation, Teleoperation).
To continue, we also enjoyed the opportunity to informally meet with many of you at our ICRA social event at Pub Victoria on May 21st, following the outdoor demo. Many customers and partners joined us there for a couple of drinks, appetizers and to relax from the exciting conference. We would like to thank Pub Victoria for hosting over 50 people for that event.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth to say hi to our robots or chat with us about robots, as well as those who turned out to our outdoor demo. We were thrilled to be at ICRA 2019 and are looking forward to next year’s conference. See you all there!
