Robotic Gizmos

Advanced robots are built all the time for planetary exploration. The Canadian Space Agency is preparing a rover to explore a polar region of the moon within the next 5 years. MDA and Canadensys are the two companies working on lunar rover concepts.

The idea is to use this rover to gather imagery, record measurements, and survive a lunar night, which lasts about 14 Earth days. More information is available here.
